I’ll start off 2010 by posting one of the songs that will continously be driving clubs crazy in 2010. It’s by Zambian artist David Banda aka General Ozzy. My Kenyan connect Dan had been telling me that this song was doing crazy numbers in the clubs and radio, but the copy we had of the song was not up to standard until we got a hold of a good copy the other day. Ozzy calls his music Zamragga, which is a fusion of Zambia traditional folk sounds and ragga music.
The original “Potential” track was released mid last year and it did good numbers, but the song was catapulted to greater heights when he enlisted the amazing Ugandan duo of Moses Radio and Weasel for a classic remix. I don’t know too much about Ozzy but apparently he has three albums to his record over the last eight years, and his current album “Kobili” was just released a couple of weeks ago. I got a chance to listen to the whole album and I was impressed. Go out and support the artists by buying their albums also.
