Dan Mixa- Straight Outta Bongo (Bongo Flava Mix)

StraightOuttaSomewhere (2)

Dan Mixa sent me this mix a few weeks ago and now posting it. WIth so many djs out there and so many mixes, it sometimes hard to differentiate one dj mix from the other one since generally it’s the same records sequenced differently. I’m naturally biased when it comes to dj mixes, in that I’ll listen and only post dj mixes that have new music and exclusives and that out of the studio type of music that is available out there. I like to keep abreast on new artist, studio and new records that will be future hits.

Dan Mixa is a dj who apart from playing records, breaks records and gives you that exclusive music that keeps you in tune on what popping in the East African music scene.

Straight Outta Bongo is a Bongo Flava Mix that is loaded with tons of exclusives interlaced with current club bangers. Wit hthis you are guaranteed to be in tune with what’s poppin in the Tanzanian music scene

Ali Kiba – Mwana (Lamar Refix ***)

Lamar is a genius, or better yet Lamar has figured out a way to make Tanzanian music flavorful and I am loving it all the way to the bank. On these types of posts I dont even want to say much, just listen to this rendition of a classic into something much more urban/western/dance like and essentially what I call – AFRICAN POP / AFROP.

Play this loud wherever you are… enjoy

GetMziki – Promo Only September 2014 Edition

breaking_Records_getMziki

With so many things going on, this September issue of Promo Only comes a few weeks late, but better late than never.

With so many artists and tons of records being released on a weekly basis, it’s sometimes so hard to fully enjoy and digest records. Added with the hundred of records we receive from artists, we started having a monthly showcase of songs that we sifted through to find the cream of the crop that we believe deserve a few spins. The result is a 18-track compilation with a few bonus tracks. We showcase tons of records on a weekly basis and with everyone being busy with their daily lives, we decided to start showcasing records that are exclusive releases, chart setters, songs that will be future hits, present hits and everything else in between. Consider this as a music playlist to keep you abreast on what’s popping especially in the East African music scene.”

Bonge La Nyau Feat. Ali Kiba – Uaminifu

Bonge-la-nyau

Is it only me but I seem to have some quality audio and visuals from Tanzania artists on a weekly basis. Matter of fact most the records are either from R & seasoned veterans or new upcoming artists on the grind.

Bonge La Nyau is an artist whose been on the grind for a minute. “Uaminifu” Produced By Bob Junior and recorded at Sharobaro Records is a classic Bongo R & B record that is banger. Like my Tanzanian pals would say, Hii ngoma ni safi kabisa. Hapo sawa!!!!!!!

Tunda Man Ft Ali Kiba – Msambinugwa

c65de1e4a098b6a7fc11632c9954f3db

We’ve been getting tons of new Bongo Flava music and this is one of the few records that resonated with me.

I don’t have so much info on Tanzanian Artists Tunda Man, but on this banger he enlists his country man Ali Kiba for a decent record. You cannot hate on this if you’re looking’ for some music additions to your playlist.

Abdu Kiba feat Ali Kiba – Kidela

Abdu Kiba feat Ali Kiba – Kidela

Looks like the Brothers are going to be making more hits together, here is another tune from the Tanzanian dynamic duo Abdu and Ali Kiba called Kidela. What’s kinda cool about this track is somewhere in between the joint they seem to pay homage to the the popular Ghanaian Azonto dance/sound.

It’s amazing how music from one part of the continent influences another part. I just wonder if Ghanaians ever pretend to pay homage to Bongo Flava or to Genge sometimes? #amjustsaying.

Bless Kidela here..

Dochi ft Ali Kiba – Imani (GetMziki Exclusive)

DOCHI_GetMziki

There is the old saying that if it ain’t broke, there is no reason to fix it. This definitely lies true for the classic Bongo Flava R & B artists and the numerous records that eventually became hits.

The number of emerging Bongo Flava artits are a dime a dozen and everyday we are getting new songs from that region. It’s so easy for an upcoming artists to grab a “classic” Bongo R & B production record and grab a seasoned artists like Ali Kiba to help push a record.

Imani is a great record that will definitely get spins. However, if Dochi stalls and fails to come up woth great records, his will just be another chapter among the many upcoming Bongo artists.

Ali Kiba – My Everything (GetMziki Exclusive)

In the current music industry, not even the best artist stays fresh in peoples memory for long, unless they have new records out. In the ipad mini era, music enthusiasts are always updating their music collection on a weekly if not daily basis with new music and artists. One of the key things one has to do to stay relevant is constantly releasing records.

Ali Kiba knows this and he’s not slowing down but consistently releasing records This is another banger. Kiba has done it again. The hot production on the record is by super producer Lamar. Do I need to say more……

Just check out the lyrics to the catchy chorus.

Ooooobaiby u My Everything My Everything
Kila Nachofanya Kwa Ajili Yako My Everything
Hata Kama Mi Sina You My Everything My Everything
Kupendana Kwa Sana u my Everything My Everything

Alikiba Feat. Lady Jay Dee – Single Boy (GetMziki Exclusive ***)

I have this compelling feeling that SEVEN (a good friend and a dynamic media personality in Tanzania) is currently behind AliKibas image. I was watching this interview – and I noticed Ali has a glove on one hand, and the shades through the interview… It just felt like SEVEN has a hand in deciding this mans upcoming look and feel. For what its worth Its working. Looking at the image I updated above you can notice Alikiba is currently putting in work at the gym and the ladies will eat this new image up for breakfast, supper and lunch.

So why talk about the song – when we can talk about Alikibas new image and look? Damn the 2012 US tour will be crazy if this is how he plans to enter the country again.

Okay so lets just talk about the song a little, single boy is a good track. Its not a classic Kiba song as i feel it sounds too much like KAPUKA. If you listen to the beat arrangement and kick and snare – you can hear the bumkapuka! bumkapuka! So to me this is just okay – its a winning formula – play it safe, keep the fans safe and sing about something young ladies want to here.

Watch this interview if you have time, Kiba addresses questions about the music, the lifestyle and his own relationship status…

Abdu Kiba Feat. Ali Kiba – Kizunguzungu

Little did I know Ali Kiba actually had a little brother who is a recording and performing artist taking up from Big Bro. Thanks for Alvin we still flexing this Bongo flava to date. This is a complete leak, the song the label is pushing is posted way below in video format but I managed to get my hands on this unreleased track called Kizunguzungu. I dont have much info on Abdu Kiba but I am unsure if he can match up to his brother.

give this a listen…

Ally Kiba – Dushelele (GetMziki Exclusive ***)

Okay we are back in business, we decided to take a route we have been avoiding for years simply because we like to have better control of our music files but I am sure this too will change in the next few months or years once they get bought out. So over the next few weeks we will be migrating our music to soundcloud and also changing the settings on previous tracks that are still using our SkyDrive service.

That said let me bless your Friday with this new Ally Kibas. Every time you see a Bongo Flava track it means Alvin is alive. Alvin has been low key for weeks if not months but as if to resurrect himself through this banger. it almost makes it worth it that he goes in and out of my life lol.

Ally Kiba is a genius and I think after listening to this track over and over again and watching the video. I realise he just set the bar again for the next two years for all the Tanzanian R&B sensations and aspirational artists. This feels like Fally Ipupa and then on the Flip side it feels like I am sitting on a Mkeka listening to Taarab (not that I do that anyway). Dude is just good or he has good people around him advising him on what kind of music or sound to put out.

*The quality of this track my not be up to GM standards but we will surely update soon.

Alikiba – Mapenzi (GetMziki Exclusive ***/ONE 8 Project Exclusive)

This is one of the few posts i will make with no particular explanation, mostly because this track is HOT OFF THE PRESS. Literary this track is so hot the plate that I capped this track on was burning. Its as if the guys at Rockstarr heard my rants and eventually just put this together to shut me up. I was so pissed off and disappointed with the initial execution of the ONE8 project. To listen to this crazy track I am like okay okay okay ONE8 lets start this whole project again – lets reset our watches.

In total Ali Kiba says about four English words (FEEL FREE TO LOVE). Thats great – lets leave it at that, coz the rest of the track is just FIYAAAH. When we leave our artists to do what they do best in their own elements this is the type of sound and music we will get. CLASSICS. Again this is hot off the press so I need to listen to it a few more times and get a little more info on the track composition and credits so I ill stop here but from what I understand this is part of the ONE8 project tracks – and to me this is OFFICIAL. Thank you thank you… Kiba twende Kazi!

ly on tour across the US , just recently released the first official single “Usiniseme” on his brand new album “Ali K 4Real”. I got to a chance to listen to the whole album and was really really impressed with the song selection, production quality and overall artistic maturity of Ali Kiba.

This song is already getting massive air play In Tanzania and I believe a video is in the works. This is a club banger that really “speaks” for itself. Shouts outs to Alvin and the whole Ali Kiba US management team. Enjoy!!!!!
