Bigpin Jatelo feat Frasha – Boss Yangu (GetMziki Exclusive ***)

Bigpin is up to his old tricks again, here collaborating with Frasha from P-Unit. This song is a classic, however what I think is more classic is this burgeoning initiative that Bernsoft seems to be honing with many artists in Kenya. I am still trying to get the details of the relationship but from what I understand Bernsoft (which historically has been a software development company) has been developing and producing music for a few key artists for the last two years from studio production to post production videos and so forth.

This track and video are no exception to what Bernsoft Entertainment’s slew of talents has been churning out. It’s a rare groove with a simple catchy hook. I like the little harmonies. I actually like the track a lot, and I think Flo blessing the hook brought the different elements together perfectly. The video wasn’t really all that, I think they coulda done better on the video considering you have such a heavy beat… but for what its worth its getting heavy rotation on my ipod.

Big Pin – Ilete (GetMziki Exclusive ******) Big TUNE!!!

One thing you will always be guaranteed with Homeboyz studios is that there is always heat in the kitchen. I was worried previously because I felt that once musyoka leaves Homeboyz there will be a decline in the heat making process. Lets face it, Homeboyz put the hip in the word hop as far as African/ Kenyan music is concerned. Musyoka has been the center point of most of these hits, between that time Ambrose worked in the same studios amongst other people like Gitchboy and others. But nothing sounds as interesting as products that come out of the FRIDGE (Thats the key studio at Homeboyz, the other is a studio called the OVEN)..

The minute I heard this track I said – DAMN Musyoka is at it again. Considering we are sumbuaing him on the other posts about his P-Unit crew and their current direction.

I’d like to retract this statement – I just got the 411, Freddie (a Musyoka proteje) produced this track. He is the same guy behind Yule Pale, and Leo ni Leo for Redsan… I understand he is working on the Big Pin project. Big ups Freddie – this is an awesome track, I guess you learned quite a few thing from the Fridge master!

I think its songs such as these that restore the faith in what GENGE is or should be. Ha ha ha thats such a contradictive statement but ill follow it with these thoughts. This BEAT is sick, the lyrics are sick, the delivery is sick and BIG PIN as USUAL is one of the few artists I will continuously respect. Crispin Mwangale (the late Mwangale’s son for those who didn’t know) is a good friend and probably one of the most humble dudes you’ll ever come across.

I want to call this track a Musyoka beat – coz for me it has all those signature beat arrangements that Musyoka has. Unless proven differently after this post.

Again I had to retract these statements coz I just got word that Freddie produced this track.

DJ’s FEAST YOUR ears and fans on this TRACK – this is goign to be the biggest track of the SUMMER!!!

ILETE (Bring it!!!) – the Beast from the East is BACK (representing South C to the fullest)

Brand New: Rap Damu feat Big Pin – Hustlin Damu

Can I be honest for a minute!!!

Am only posting this song because of pressure internally (inside GetMziki also too much politics with posting new songs vs relevant songs). But honestly, I dont care whether Big Pin the beast from the EAST is on this track – THIS TRACK IS WHACK!! real talk, the accordions and piano work is too loud (Maybe the mastering wasnt done right). I dont even know who produced the track – if its any of the top FIVE (musyoka, Ambrose, Ulopa, Ogopa, Innovator) then I am sorry but this was a really quick job.

But for the purposes of fairness considering my unfiltered comments and feedback – I have posted the song and opened up the channels for further feedback. I also haven’t heard of this guy called Rap Damu (RapDAMU). Maybe someone can shed some light…. But to me this track doesn’t work – and isn’t working…

Brand New Music: Big Pin feat Sanaa – You

//Disclaimer – We apologize for the image uploaded, we tried our best to photoshop an old Big Pin image from Ogopa poster and a new image of Sanaa with Pam and Karma. It doesn’t look half as bad as we thought it would. however one thing we would like to note is that Big Pin is probably one of the few artists you can’t find online anywhere – We are not sure why, maybe he just hasn’t had any new material for a while but basically no images, no audio apart from Terra Moss… It took us ten seconds to find promo pictures from P-Square to use.. but it normally is challenging to find any press releases or images from East African artists as a whole. //

Big Pin is a very humble dude, I cant really describe him any other way, I’ve spent a lot of time with Pin on a personal level that I really never saw him as an artist. I admire the fact that he has always tried to keep it Jaluo on all his tracks – that formula has always worked for the most part.

Sanaa on the other hand was one sexy goddess during the SEMA days… for the longest time there were rumors of her dating DJ John of Homeboyz that never really panned out. Some people claim the group broke up because of some of these differences – personally I think just standing next to Sanaa was Cake enough. She did enough justice of carrying that name from the real Sana (Sanaipei) Debra waaa wololo…

Anyway here is a brand new track of the two talents – its about time these two did a song together, although this song sounds like someone sampled a dancehall song (what a lie, what a lie what a very bad lie am not sure who sang that song or what the name of the song is.. but I know the tune).

You is produced by Homeboyz, I guess homeboyz is back – lets hope we can still get some heat from the fridge considering Musyoka started his own outfit and Ambrose is in Tanzania…

Brand New Music : Big Pin feat Collo – Kadem

The Beast from the East – Big Pin, probably one of Kenya’s culturally diverse sensations, he always delivers the right hooks and tracks to make the mood right. After he released Terra Moss, I was done! The whole Indian flavor mixed with Ogopa kapuka sounds and youthful flutes was so engaging. And then he delivered another track called Bentemba (ps. am looking for a good quality version of this track if anyone has it please send it through mailto : leo@getmziki.com)

For me Big Pin is part of the overall Ogopa crew, style and delivery so I wouldnt expect anything less. I am still very conflicted about this song – maybe I need to listen to it a few more times, but for now enjoy it. Collo always does his job right, probably one of my top five lyricists in Kenya (i’ve watched Collo freestyle and the boy/man is sick, although his new track Mschana high class was a little off)
