Mejja ft Madtraxx – Twen Zetu (GetMziki Faceoff ***)

mejja_vs_madtraxx

We have this feature called FACEOFF that we introduced a while back and although it’s not a consistent as would like it to be, it’s still a great way of showcasing records.

Like we said before when we had the Mejja Vs MadTraxx FACEOFF with ā€œPoaā€ , the feature is to put two artists toe to toe on a basic poll. The idea is not to discredit one artist vs the other but rather to measure the value of different lyrical flow, composition and song writing.

Twen Zetu is a good track that finds Mejja and Mad Traxx going hard on what they are best known for; story telling. They each have separate verses to start off with and on the last verse they go back and forth with such amazing ease and lyrical flow. The duo of Mejja and Mad Traxx could do amazing things together as a unit. Iā€™m sure enough people have thrown the whole idea of them doing a collabo album which from the amazing records they have out, would be a no brainer.

For now listen to Twen Zetu and let us know what you think… which of the two artists goes harder on the record

Mejja – Over My X (***GetMziki Exclusive)

In this 2012 music world, singles are the stepping stone to releasing albums. Without the right single, it's always a gamble to release the official album. Mejja has had great singles that should have transitioned to an album, but that never happened. You could point fingers at various machinery's but the fact is that you have to literally strike when the iron is hot. It's sometimes hard to get the second chance in terms of a nationwide single. Seasoned record labels know the drill. Get the album all completed then start looking for the singles to push the album. You might n

ot know it, but most major artists will have albums done and sitting for even one year waiting for the right single to get a buzz before releasing the album.

Mejja, in my opinion is one of those artists who should have should have released his debut album “Hali Duni” a while back.”Jana Kuliendaje” and “Landlord” were the perfect singles as a stepping stone for his album.

Over My X is Mejja's current single. On the song, the Kenyan emcee tells us how he's over his ex in classic Mejja style. Bump to this heavy because everyone can definitely relate to being over their ex.

Mejja Feat Linda – Furahia (GetMziki Exclusive)

We have featured Mejja on the site before, with tons of his hot singles and collabos. We have also questioned why his record company Calif records has not yet released his official album, since the music from Mejja is more than enough for an album.

Like I said before, maybe the dynamics and cost of releasing an album overshadow everything else and artists and record companies find it betetr to release singles. From a marketing perspective is it better to release an album when you got a strong street, radio and club buzz from “Jana Kulienda Aje” and “Poa” or wait for the to die down to release the album. We can learn from BOB aka Bobby Ray who just released his debut album which is number one on the Billboard charts. He had completed the album along time ago but him and the record company were waiting for that buzz single which was “Nothin On You” before they released the album.

Anyways, here is another Mejja track from his “upcomin album”. This Beat ya Clemo track features Linda and is one of those comical yet lyrical Mejja tracks. On this song I’ll let it breath for itself.

Clemo we are still waiting for Mejja’s debut album.

Enjoy

Mejja – Niko Poa

Am going to post this song real quick because it’s been on the request lines for a few months now. We published a faceoff challenge between Mejja – Niko poa and Mad Traxx – Poa a while back. However I didnt realize that we didn’t have any download options for the two songs. So people have been riveted about that for months.

So here goes –

Double Trouble – Linet, Raudy & Kendi, Mejja (GetMziki Calif Records Edition)

So here is the reality of this post, Ive been sitting or sleeping literary on a couple of tracks. Some of these tracks I honestly didn’t think were worthy of posting but after the videos popped up online I thought okay – well why not. So truth be told, I feel none of these two songs, but the Kendi and Meja VIDEO is hilarious. Someone needs to give this Mejja character a TV show or something. He reminds me of Ludacris with his hilarious videos and theatrics…Honestly the world is a much better place with Mejja in the game – he is currently my number on source of happiness when it comes to watching Kenyan music Videos. (Watch the beginning of that Mwanisema Video its hilarious). Actually I think the whole Clemo (Calif Records) stable just has some interesting well thought of videos. I love the fact that they are shot in the hood – they don’t try to be Westerncentric – their videos are often just real. (ps. What happend to that FLEXX cat Mr. Amejibeba?)

The second part of this post is this Linet and Raudy song. I know both songs are from Calif Records, but am just saying I wasn’t feeling them before I saw the videos. Anyway I think the chile in the Mwanisema video in the beginning is the same chic singing on this Linet song. I could be wrong but they look very similar. Calif Records seems to be incubating some new talent, all these new acts have been springing up from their stable – maybe its time for some new blood. Either way I thought now that the videos are out you guys might enjoy some of these blaa blaaa songs.

Although if I had to pick – I would go with the Kendi track, Kendi’s voice seems like it has much more potential than Linets voice.

Mejja vs Madtraxx (GetMziki FACEOFF – Who did it better) – Poa

mejja_vs_madtraxx

We have been toying the idea about starting a new feature called FACEOFF which will put two artists toe to toe on a basic poll. The idea is not to discredit one artist vs the other but rather to measure the value of different music against one another based on sound, lyrical flow, composition and song writing. Please let us know what you think about this feature as the site generally progresses.

To start off this feature we will showcase these two new tracks, one by Mejja titled “Niko Poa” and the other by Madtraxx titled “Poa” (Kamko Poa). The Mejja track is slightly newer so not too many people are bound to have heard it. But either way Clemos capabilities are clearly heard through the track – putting that against a similarly titled track (Madtraxx – Poa) that has been killing radio for a few months only seems right.

Please place your vote, let us know what you think… which of the two sounds better

Mejja, Jua Cali, Allaholla, Raudy Ru, K Soulja – Twende Juu

Jua Cali

I understand this is not a relatively new track but it fell on my laps like last month, funny thing is I heard DJ Edu dropped it like last week so I figured it must be new – but my sources say its not. I also dont really know how many artists are on this track but its worth posting because it has some swag…. Its not one of my favorite tracks but it will do for a TUESDAY.

Brand New: Jua Cali feat Mejja – Bongo La Biashara

Jua Cali

Here is a not so new song but as far as this website is concerned it might as well be new. Bongo la Biashara has been an evasive song in our database, each time we got a copy it wasn’t up to our standards and also more importantly it wasn’t complete. Finally we managed to get our hands on something more meaningful (full version).

This is a classic JuaCali track, to have Mejja on this track is a blessing because the two artists are probably the most sought after Genge artists in Kenya currently (or at the time of recording this song). The beat sounds so futuristic like something off a West Coast producer, with the pianos the plug in accordions and the harps. I like the track – but without further due – enjoy the track

Exclusive: Mejja, Madtraxx, Jimwat – Mezesha ***

Ive been meaning to post this song for a long time but I had too much going on and somehow I lost the track in my mailbox. I will continue to salute this dynamic trio for as long as they keep making good music. Somehow I have a strange feeling that they are working on an album, if that’s the case for what its worth I will be the first to get the first copy. Their first hit track Round hii was just sick, I played that song until my ipod died.

I never thought I would see the day Georgie would be an artist, but I knew he would be one of the best DJs in Kenya. Mejja and Jimwatt just add to this lyrical battle and Clemo keeps closing in the phat beats… Mezesha is a song on steroids.. I cant get it to stop playing on my ipod – Keep up the good work gentlemen.. Keep it up.

Brand New Mejja feat Madtraxx & Jimwatt – Roundi Hii

madtraxx68

Mejja has been turning heads and ears in Kenya over the last few months after he came out with his hit track “Kuliendaje”. The lyrics off Kuliendaje definately helped put him on a class of his own. Lyrically he delivers the track extraordinarily over Clemos beats to blend in well to make a unique Genge track.

Mejja back at the studio puts together this powerful come back with well backed up collabo’s with Madtraxx (Mr. Boda Boda) and Jimwatt (Kumbe ni under 18).

Enjoy the track.
