Dymetime Radio – East African Vibes 5.1

Its that time for the hottest hits to take over your radio/computers/mobile phones – Dyme dropped some new hits today and I feel compelled to share immediately. For folks like me this is the only way we can experience new local music, so I definitely look forward to East African compilations. It’s typically a time for me to gauge whats being considered hot given that Dyme really puts together the hits.

DJ Mista Dru – March Maddness Fix (GetMziki Exclusive Mix)

TOM – Uhuru Clothing & DJ Mista Dru – image courtesy of 2Kat Events

Dru (Andrew Siro) is like my brother from another mother – I think I look out for this cat more than many other of my own relatives. Dru was recently in the US to do a tour of shows but we cut his tour short due to many other complications from promoters and unsure investors. I wont get into the gory details here because I don’t wish to disrespect anyone – however I hope in future that all these Kenyan events in the US get streamlined one way or another with some professionalism.

I think the problem we have in the US is eveyrone thinks they can be a promoter, everyone thinks they can put the acronym DJ infront of their names and makes them a DJ… and every DJ or most DJs think they can be promoters – so the market right now has just gotten a little bit clustered with people who know what they are doing and people who dont know what they are doing.

None the less – Dru wanted to share his MARCH MADNESS mix as the few of us root for UCONNNNNNNNNN (Not sure how many of you watch NCAA but there is a RELATIVE OF MINES there called Hasheem Thabeet). Ukimuona mwambie namsaka…

Enjoy the mellow grooves here

Obama – the mixtape challenge!

ObamaFew politicians have been able to to inspire artistic creativity as much as Barack Obama – the songs out there are numerous and diverse so i though it would only be right to put out a mixtape challenge in honor but first of all lets look at the tunes out there – I am sure there are many songs we are missing but here is the list we have for now. feel free to add more

Extra Golden – Obama (this one came out before he even ran for POTUS)
Tony Nyadundo – Obama!! (Not to be left behind he come out with 30 minutes song )

Other African countries have not been left behind though .

Blacka Rasta – Barack Obama!! This some crunk stuff from Ghana
Jojeba – Ready To Go – this is an artist from cameroon with a makossa tune.

Based on music alone u you would think Barack is from jamaica. My favorites tune
so far is Movados remix of the rock

Jamaica and Caribbean
-Movado – we need Barack (the rock rmx/mission riddim)
-Damian Marley – also check this out
– Cocoa Tea – Barack Obama (This is a big tune been killing parties here in the US for a minute)
-Might Sparrow – Barack the magnificient This calypso tune is probably the most thoughtful composition (if this guy had linked up with M.O.I he would have been a billionaire)

Then there is the reggaeton tunes.
-Don Omar – Como se Dice

Finally there is this song from japan – good nursery rhyme

-Nas – Black President
– Will. iam – Yes we Can [this was a huge Youtube phenomenon] and also this
– Ludacris – Obama is here – This caused a major controversy

also check out
Annie Palovick
Neil Young – looking for a leader

Obama Girl Video
