Mumalala Feat Octopizzo – Paper Chasing

With so many artists out there, we always have to introduce some of them to everyone out there the way they would prefer. From her Facebook page, Mumala Maloba is a singer songwriter who has begun to cause a stir within the crop of young musicians in Nairobi. Having come from a musical background , she started her musical journey very young. By age 6 she was participating in Christmas musicals and carols begun writing songs at the age of 10. Her 2nd grade teacher called her a young ‘Miriam Makeba’, but Mumala had never heard of her until she discovered her music and fell in love:Currently studying Law at Middlesex University, Mumala is also definitely one of the female vocalists to look out for in the coming months.

Joining Mumalala over Fancy Fingers(Polycarp) Sol Ent production is added guest Octopizzo who in my opinion dropped a lazy uninspired verse. However, “Paper Chasing” is a smooth laid-back song that deserves a few spins.

Octopizzo – Kibera World Cup (###Throw Back Thursday)

It’s throwback Thursday and this time we bring together a #TBT record from Octopizzo with record “Kibera World Cup”. Years of anticipation are set to give way to a month long soccer extravaganza as the 2014 FIFA World Cup kicks off from Brazil today .

Back then we had Octopizzo as one of the artists we believe the industry needs to watch in 2011. We clearly were not wrong.

Listen at the end where he mentions all the major soccer players in the various teams. Some of the soccer players are still relevant today…

Octopizzo – Mama (Mixtape Fridays)

It’s been dope to watch Octopizzo over the last couple of years, slowly ascend to the artist he is today. When Getmziki strongly labelled him as one of the “artists to watch” a few years back we received some backlash from various djs and readers, who thought his music was not up to par. However time has proved us right. Octopizzo is definitely one of the top freshmen. Now everybody is jumping on the “numba nane babbbay” bandwagon.

One question still remains on the lips of all the doubters out there. Is Octopizzo here to stay. For an answer to that, please listen to “Mama”. Octopizzo recently releasd “Mama,” which is dedicated to his beloved mother whom he appreciates and respects deeply.

Here is one twit post by a fan on Octopizzos Twitter page that stongly summarises the song.

“God bless Octopizzo, there is something sentimental about the song ‘MAMA’. Keep scaling the hip hop heights, bro.”

Octopizzo is definitely making his mark in 2012

Muthoni DQ Ft Octopizzo – Vile Inafaa (**GetMziki Exclusive)

Let’s start the work week right with this brand new song by Muthoni the Drummer Queen. On the track, Muthoni literally goes to the streets, by recruiting Octopizzo, Numba Nane – one of the hottest spitter in Kenya currently for some 16’s. I heard this song once, and it’s been in my head ever since. … Instead of writing a long post, I’ll let the song speak for itself. You gotta give it up for this brilliant collabo. It’s one of those championship collaborations, bringing together Muthoni’s Afro-Pop + Edge fans and Octopizzo’s die hard hip hop fans.

The track was produced by Dilly of Homeboyz Studios.

Octopizzo – Kibera World Cup

2011 is here and it’s going to go pretty fast. We’ve been working on too many things over the last few year for us not to release them this year so sit tight (WE PROMISE) this year should be different. As different as this track we want to kick off the new year with.

OCTOPIZZO: Facebook – [Octopizzo Facebook Page]

One of the crop of up and coming rappers in Nairobi whom not too many people know about. Most people know about the Abbas, Noninis, Kanja and so forth. Actually at this point the Nonini’s can be considered Old School rappers. This new crop of rappers include Octopizzo, G-Kon and a few other cats who would take this whole post to list down. (Rest assured their music has been received and will be posted shortly).

The track we have posted is not necessarily the best but we think it gives you the feeling of the energy. If you meet Octopizzo in town or you see him walking. It almost as though there is a beat in his head that he is walking to. Thats the kind of energy the youth has and exudes. This track was delivered to our Kenya offices as a sneak preview to what he has in store for 2011, we were also privy to an exclusive photo shoot while they were shooting the music video.

This is one of the artists we believe the industry needs to watch in 2011- Give Kibera a listen.
