You will only here this remix here, or better yet you will hear it here first coz we got this remix custom fitted for us coz we can :-). K-NEL has been consistent at one thing through his career – being himself. Over the last few months there have been some heated debates about his skill, technique and other things over GetMziki. But personally overtime ive learned to just respect anyone who is consistent at being themselves. It doesn’t matter what skill level you are at if you constantly keep changing to appease the market.
A lot of Kenyan/African music lovers don’t really understand the mixtape market. A lot of people tend to think that if they hear KNEL on Bamboo’s beat or on GAMES beat then he is a fake or a foney. The mixtape industry to me doesn’t really fall far from the tree compared to the Ridim driven Dancehall/reggae music market. Where sixteen artists could feature on one track or one beat and no one seems to care much. Anyway am digressing – overall I really like this remix, if I was a Kyuk this would be my national anthem. A phat track from two prolific artists who seem to be taking over the East African (international) market. Congratulations to Stella for her nomination on the MAMAs coming up this month (I know she will bag some awards). I hear STL has been licensing a lot of songs from her album to different features, documentaries and movies (not sure how true this is) but for what its worth – do your thing.
A few years Back Bamboo and the Ukoo Fulani crew licensed a bunch of tracks to a movie titled Primeval (you will hear Compe at some point in that movie and other Kshaka songs). Either way Kenyan music is going places… keep doing what you do people.
