I have been following these cats for a while now, mostly because I admire their approach and their different attempts to break through the Kenyan music industry. Iconic Music was started by Jamie John Seno And Edwin Seno and later Duncan Ngweno joined the crew. Their whole progression plan sounds like a joke, but frankly after listening to Nawaza and also watching the music video – it helps emphasize the fact that anyone can be a superstar anytime anywhere.
So as the story goes, they bought a computer, installed fruity loops and started creating beats… today that’s history, as they struggle to develop and create Iconic Music into a force to be reckoned with in the industry.
To me they seem to have an interesting approach in producing subtle hiphop with a fusion of African sound and harmony. I specifically like this track which they were kind enough to provide with a video to support it. I also like the fact that they have embraced the internet and are trying to push their material out through all means, Facebook, websites and other options.
